I spent a few hours flicking hard bodies in the Nogoa River near Emerald yesterday, been a couple of decent sized cod pulled out recently, but I couldn't arouse any interest whatsoever. I did manage to hook a small spangled perch on a soft plastic and got some reasonable sized redclaw that I released in to a dam close to home even though it is illegal.

I thought it would be a good sign if you aren't catching any carp, any chance the numbers are dropping?
The carp muster we went to in February produced less numbers of carp this year as to previous years.
I just assumed that would be a good thing, that we were doing our bit for the water ways :)
    Just my thoughts anyway :)
All in good time Noel :)

In a nutshell...no! The carp are plentiful in this creek and my lack of success was just an indication of the day (slow for whatever reason). I do understand where you are coming from but in this case I was hoping for some carp action whilst I was yabbying. Some other waterways in my area have seen a dramatic reduction in carp which is excellent but this creek is my 'go to' creek for carp!
    cheers

Oh ok, just my wishful thinking I suppose :) I know we'll never erradicate all of them.
But keep catching, just never know :)

    That's a good image, Tac.

Do you freeze the skippys for future bait or are they only good on the snapper when fresh? When I fished for snapper in South Oz, I mainly used tommy ruff (herrings) or squid - the tommies weren't a good bait after freezing, but great when fresh or salted.

One of the reasons we don't keep tailor for the pot. Did any of you tell our Sandy that the name is an abbreviation of Skipjack, and they are not related to her skippies. P'raps I should read back to check but it's brekkie time. Noel

You never have to ask if you can lurk around, as you put it. Your part of the TBX family. Look after yourself Sandy and I hope the medication helps.
