With the demise of Trout in most central tablelands streams, and to cull their numbers I started flyfishing for carp.
At first it was just to get some practice in so as not to disgrace myself at the annual Sofala carp comp.
What I found when targeted in clear feestone streams like the Turon and Wuinburdale rivers was a really underated sport fish.
Lets look at this further

Hi all
A question regarding fly fishing. I hope to try it on carp at some stage in the local channels. Many fly fishos I see wade so when they strip line of it is in the water. So how would that work on the bank? Is the line likely to tangle in grass or be picking up dirt/prickles etc?

One guy told me some people will have a bucket on their waist and feed the line into that. I am not that keen! I'm guessing if you are not fishing on a manicured lawn you are going to have trouble....

Well it is my BIRTHDAY today. And I organised to have today off as leave.I did neglect to tell anyone in my family Wife almost had a heart attack when I was till home at 6.20 this morning.
Anyway slipped down to the same two beaches as Saturday morning.I missed Sunday even this nut-case SWFF thought the wind was to strong !!!.
So today with a smaller choppy surface I thought it would be good as well.
Half way along the first beach I managed to drop a tiddler, not much was showing...

Ok so before everyone jumps on me .Lets just start this topic with me saying that I am a slow and methodical person who never just jumps straight into anything(with the exception of Fly fishing for Bream).
So after being stuck at home for a few weeks and watching countless fishing shows from the UK .I am now determined to have a ago at some Trout ,brain washed comes to mind .
Ok what flies should I have in my fly boxes
I was given a few years back a fly box with some Irish wet flies...
