Yep...it's on! Who will be crowned 'Carp King' for the 2019/20 season? Me thinks it will be me! The comp starts 1st September, as in tomorrow...ends June 30th 2020.
As my name suggests, and as some of you know - I like catching carp! They are a great sport fish and are great fun on ANY gear, in my humble opinion. Not only do they provide a great fight, but when they are on the bite, you are every chance to get a big haul of 20, 30, 40, sometimes even 50 (or more) fish! What's more, is you're doing your bit for the environment as well.
I have mentioned that one of my goals, to get a yella on a lure, has eluded me! I have fished channels where other anglers get yellas and all I manage is redfin or cod. How do I get out of this rut? I know what lures Dave uses, well some of them anyway. Happy to take suggestions from others. Not just lure choice either, but general advice as to where to find them...slow/fast water, rocky ground etc.

In a couple of weeks time, I will once again launch an invasion on the southern states and after enjoying some success (albeit limited) on redfin near Lithgow back in 2016 I figured that as far as any freshwater fishing goes, they will be my main target species.

I had seriously considered venturing further into the unknown and crossing into Vic, but I am not seeing any reports on redfin hauls from any of our Vic members here and about the only talk about the species is on a South Oz forum...

Hi all

Is anyone planning a last attempt at cod before the close of season? I am thinking of launching one of the greatest cod offensives ever! Well, a trip to a creek or channel nearby! Normally when I ‘pump’ myself up for a big effort…it ends with me catching a carp…or nothing!

Cheers
