Headed down the beach yesty chasiing flood water jewies... Sadly no jewies but had one of the best sessions I have had on the beach for many years- and one I will remember for a long time.

All up caught 5 bream to 35cm, 2 flatties over 60cm and 2 chopper Taylor. Kept a few for a feed and bait, let the rest go... Dropped a few fish also and caught a big whip...

Well now the weather has cleared up marginally I thought to hit up my local beach last night hoping for some Bream and 'Ting action.
After waiting for the last stragglers to leave the beach I finally got a line in the H2O and hooked up straight away- to a bloody sting ray...
Sadly that set the scene for the rest of the evening, with well over 30 ray's caught and released, and no blasted fish, except a very greedy pinky which swallowed a 5/0 hook intended for a Taylor or Salmon.
Stayed till I...

Hi all
Is there a general idea as to what is the best conditions for any beach as in are you looking for offshore or onshore winds? If there is a preference why? Does the direction bring on more weed or something or is it just better to cast with it behind your back. On saying that, when I fish freshwater lakes I prefer to cast into the wind as I believe the incoming waves stir up the food.

Last but not least, I guess the term back beaches is in reference to the ocean beaches as opposed...
