My bride tells me at least once a week that I'm living under a rock or even that I'm in another universe. I must admit that I do use Facebook a lot, mainly as a buy and sell tool. In fact, you just can't beat it for selling gear and this morning I posted an ad for my old Troopy and it sold in under 10 minutes - can't beat that with other types of advertising. Fishing gear is a bit harder to sell, but if the price is right somebody will have a crack at it. Jeff
Hmmmm been out 3 times this year so far and donuts..... so it could be goal 2020 just to catch a fish..... ha
Hoping to sneak out last Friday but the new big wet beat me. Off for medic reviews for tomorrow, back Wednesday. We have a big presentation day Thursday to hand over cheques from the Men's Shed to our three outlying communities who lost virtually everything to fires. We started out with an agreed $1500 and El Presidento put a box on the table with 'fire donations' scrawled on it. When opened last week there was an additional, from members, $900 in it to everyone's surprise. All that means little chance of a fish before Friday of this week. Noel Fingers crossed
good to keep busy Noel, now that fires have been extinguished, and the torrential rain has stopped for now I will go on night jewfish mission if I cant catch a jewie in these conditions I should not call myself a fisherman and should be banished from TBX.
We've been looking at reasons for kicking you out following your Chinese vehicle idea, but seriously, hope you get a monster jewie. Noel
I should be up in the Hinchinbrook Channel chasing barra at the moment, but I'm waiting for a bloke from northern NSW to come and pick up my old troopy. Once that's out of the way, it's game on. Jeff
Can we do that via a mobile phone Blair? Seems people can do everything else. Have a great time when you get away Jeff. Had rain up there? Noel.
Yep low emissions too ...... I just figured bugger it I should upgrade and pooloot just like all them other hypocrites that sprook on about us little pepole causing to many emissions and then hop on a private jet and travel around the world ......
Seeing as how I'm so far away, can I appoint somebody else to take my place if there is to be some serious arse kicking. My brother lives in Sydney, he's a retired copper and he probably hasn't laid the boot into someone since hanging up his uniform - he would jump at the chance to practice his butt booting skills that he was taught at the Academy. Jeff
hopefully there isn't technology that can administer penalty for not catching target species. Send us some pics of your trip pls Jeff I was looking at the ryan moody charters up there looks good I might head up there when it cools down a bit and show you queenslanders how to catch big barra
Hi Tac, what were those ebay chainsaw chains u recommended mate, I seen some chrome tipped ones 3 for about $40 I guess they cant be sharpened but if they last a while it doesn't matter at that price. thx
The barra are on the chew at the moment with all the rain flushing tucker out of the northern rivers Noel and hopefully I will get amongst them next week. We've had some welcome rain out here in the highlands, nothing like what fell along the coastal fringe or the deluge that you have copped down your way, but it's been good soaking rain getting moisture down deeper in the soil. According to agronomists, our area needs up to 8 years of annual rainfall to get things back to normal after the drought - that equates to over 4 metres of rainfall, about the same that Tully gets in one year. Jeff
Yeah I guess that's fair being an ex copper he should be very good at it, I better catch that jewie going out this evening if wheather permits. Get ready for jewie pics!
When I fished with my old man years ago we had a golden rule, 'no cameras on the boat'. In the early days when I dabbled in a bit of 35mm photography, it seemed that every time I took a camera when we went fishing we ended up with donuts. The old man owned the boat at the time and if the skipper banned cameras, so be it. In time it became standard practice, 'no cameras on the boat', even when I had my own boats. I suppose it's nothing more than a silly superstition and I guess the main reason these days I don't take a camera out in a boat is more due to the replacement cost should it end up in the drink or cop some saltwater spray. Maybe I should buy one of those action cameras like you have, still haven't decided whether to fork out for a GoPro or one of the cheaper models. I've been following Ryan Moody on Facebook for a couple of years and I don't think you could go wrong booking a charter with him and as for having a cockroach come up here to show us cane toads how it's done, I will treat that comment with the contempt it deserves. Jeff
I also get the feeling that good fish aren't caught when there is a camera in the boat, although Dundee beach disproved that . If you bring a good fish back to the ramp then it can be safely photo,d. that way I will know which of my barra are bigger therefore worth photoing
I take my video glasses every trip for the purpose of recording big fish releases. Doesn't feel right without them. Noel Not superstitious
G'day Blair keep away from the really cheap Chinese chains they are absolute rubbish here is a link for one of the chains I use just search this store or send him a message with the drive link count of your chain I find these chains as good as Carlton and better than Oregon ...... I have seen reviews bagging hurricane chain in 3/8 and for the life of me I do not know why best cheap chain I have ever used have not bought a Stihl chain since using it and that is 3 years and I cut up to 100 m3 of firewood a year https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1x-Chai...66-MS660-034-038/180821280305?redirect=mobile
