Hi tac , me being an impatient bugger already ordered 3 chains, no brand name (I am asking for trouble there) they are from toolstorm in western Australia and have chrome (I think) plated links like the hurricane. Hopefully they are the same, I was looking at the hurricanes. I will work out how to put the website address in posts one day I know you click on the 7 th box from left.
They cant be any worse than the replacement chain i got from Bunnings I think a Oregon, was useless. the original chain on my 18" Ryobi petrol chainsaw lasted a fair while and you could sharpen it and hold an edge, it was awesome when new.
Seems to be getting more common Aholes bagging out other products trying to get more of the market probably.
I have found Ryobi cordless tools very reliable I have given some of mine a hiding used for contact duct installation never stopped. Used to use only Makita.
I may need the chainsaw soon more rain and storms expected.

Looks like I am going to fall short! Nothing organised in the fishing room and a couple failed attempts at carp and cod...although it was still a victory actually going fishing. Still a week left but my sister is going into hospital tomorrow for a hip replacement so me thinks I may be spending evenings in there with her.

    How did you go?
    cheers

Doughnut again. caught small shark not counted
Excuses: variable wind blowing boat around in arc around anchor
    no fresh bait
    no live bait
no fish did see some good arches once
fish too clever to take my bait
fish too dumb to take my bait
    etc etc

    Excuses, excuses Blair.
You told us it was all so perfect that top shelf results were inevitable
Have you considered a possible problem at the other end of the line?
    Fishing definitions:
1 Fishing; a jerk on one end of a line, waiting for a jerk on the other.
2 There's only a fine LINE between standing by the water holding a fishing rod
and just standing there looking silly.

    G/day Noel,
I wonder if your mates boat is NOISY, by that i mean does it slap the water when you walk around the deck, i dont like metals deck floors for that very reson as well.
    Something to think about Pete

Yes Pete, it does and the noise of feet carries far through water. I wonder why a serious fisher tolerates it. Mine has, in spite of being 50 years old, a deck, carpet and floatation under the deck so it's really good. And it's stable.
have thought lots about it mate

An excuse I left out was : dumb fisherman.
using 1 year or so old bait out of freezer.
Will probably try again shortly if not windy.

Easy to dohnut chasing jewies, for me anyway.

If you're wise enough to recognise such things as stale bait I was confident that you'd not use it.
We accept that you are a versatile and experienced fisho.
But we all get it wrong at times, usually via something simple.
It's long been my belief that fish only eat fresh food. Most that we chase are not scavengers. They eat only the freshest of food.
I'm fairly sure your record with Jews is no worse than most people's. Seems to me that the challenge is not in how many but hopefully, how big.
Naaah, I'm not trying to put you down Blair. Nor am I having a shot at you. There's a fair bit of respect from here.
Some people can't keep their mouth shut. I can't help writing as you all know, much to your distress.

Can't speak for Blair but I often make the same mistake. I know something is not perfect, like I should retie that not, it doesn't look too good, or I should check my bait...but don't cos I just can't be bothered. On saying that, I have been making a bit more of an effort of late. Unfortunately results have not improved but the fishing is pretty tough here at the moment. Recently, I have even been holding my rod when bait fishing at times. I used to do this a lot with great results.
Anyway, we will get there eventually!
    cheers

At least I got rid of some old bait out of the freezer, was hoping to catch some yakkas while out there none seen in usuall spot. Threw some lures about as well and did some prawning on way back in, lots of small prawns about and I caught 1 prawn!!!! released it as didn't feel like cooking 1 prawn for some reason probably should have put it on and drifted around caught a massive whiting doing that once.
