You can buy them Blair. They are a longish cylinder with a bit of stuff hanging out the top which you light I believe. Noel Lots of bang for your buck
Could take up a lot of valuable fishing time working out which lollys work for sure the cylinder whith some wire sticking out the top connected to a battery would work in any state and be quicker, they are used in mining sometimes, nah would take most of the sport out of it wouldn't get any fishing done while in jail for a long time either. I have heard aniseed works really well on fish wally.
Ok, in breaking news...bigger than the AFL closing down, it is with regret that this comp must come to an end at midnight tonight. With varying views on whether we should or shouldn't fish, I am going to have my last attempt today. And I am not saying others shouldn't fish. So I think we need to put this to rest today and move on in anticipation of the 20/21 carp olympics! I am not sure of the size of the leading fish but me thinks mudfisher has it covered. I will endeavor today to embarrass CC which should be easy. If someone has nothing better to do today feel free to post the length of Pete's leading fish as well as the second place CC. This will save me some effort in finding my goal for the arvo! I will also be trying another exotic 'superbait' which was inspired by CC. Oh the agony he will suffer when he realises he sealed his own fate! Cheers Team Bender It aint over until the well fed with superbait fat lady sings!
What a bummer Jim. It's certainly bigger than AFL shutting down and we're ex Mexicans. Though I hate carp and wouldn't try to catch them--however, I have done it, this post has been good for a quiet chuckle or two. The depth on enmity existing between the protagonists (I almost wrote procrastinators) has been a bright spot some days. Noel Perhaps it's coincidence but consider moving it into the Japan 20/21 Olympics.
Can't help noticing CC hasn't posted as he is too busy trying to upgrade. He is smart enough to know that he will need a bigger fish! My day started badly when I was unable to buy my secret bait! Many people use bread for bait...I was going to up the ante and use coffee scroll woth pink icing sugar. But Bakers Delight didn't have any cos they are concentrating on other stuff. Anyway, I settled for choc chip hot cross buns! It lasted ten seconds on the hook so now this will have to do until I get some yabbies. Cheers Team Bender Can he defeat CC in 'time on'?
Just a wild guess but could be an oriental weather loach being so long and skinny. Terrible pest that breeds worse than rabbits. Rarely gets over 11-12 cm. Years ago there were lots in the ' bidgee and saw them in Euc a few times. Haven't seen one for years now. Otherwise perhaps a common minnow that used to common when we were young of course. Likewise, I've not seen them for years either. They're the only ones I know with that shape. Noel
Try googling 'Australian smelt'. Their colors may vary a bit. I used to skewer them on my lure trebles. Then I started using transparent lures on trout...did very well. Definitely not a weather loach. Cheers Team Bender Expert in undersize fish!
And here I was just thinking it's just a run-of-the-mill minnow. There's quite a few big schools of them in the shallows of the creek. CC Waiting for Blunders concession speech!
I can't see the pic that well. Was the fish transparent? If not, then Blair may have been correct with galaxid. Cheers Team Bender Still had 3 and 1/4 hours to go!
I'm happy to withdraw my guess about weather loach and retain the minnow one. We used to see minnow in schools and that seems to fit. We obviously have a small fish expert on site. I have only seen them in water not landed after a memorable battle. Noel
So...all good things must come to an end! Well done madfisher with an 87 cm specimen...the champion carp catcher! But of course we all know this was about CC and myself. I think CC offered a fish around the 74 cm mark! Me...um, er, may have been about 40 cm's! There is no easy way to say this but in this case....wait......for it...…. CC IS A LOT BETTER CARP FISHERMAN THAN ME... ...at the moment! Stay tuned for future challenges! That is all! Cheers Team Bender Needs some panadol!
Maybe next time you should have a Donut challenge. Congrats CC it could have been worse at least you came second and not third Rod Bender
THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY FISHING LIFE!!! CC Up yours Miffy & Sparkles! (I know you're watching)
