Keeping warm, while waiting for the wind to drop to have a fish. I think a few others may be doing the same no one around. The Lake is dropping quite quickly at the moment as well.

It's been bloody cold here to Wally, I could be going to Green Hill Lake with our son next week depending on "weather" I feel up to it and it's not wet and windy

Caught 1 blackfish 32 cm ...hubby and 2 friends decided to hang out, they did get few bites, but didn't catch anything...I am happy...not bad for 2 hours fishing
I think I am the only one that catches good number of blackfish on bread bait only, using my own waggler floats ,for now ( I am still testing them by myself, not painted yet ) ...impossible for me to get grass ( weed) and sand so I just use either bread, pilchards, prawns or the dough hubby mixes for me (plain flour or corn flour, parmesan and liquid from olive jars), but all blackfish I caught was on bread bait only...My friends and hubby tried to use my waggler floats, to help me test them all, but it was hard for them, they couldn't see where they are, so they quit and used regular ones.

BP sounds like you had fun in your two hour's of fishing with a nice Blackfish as well. Tell me do you use ledger rods or do you use something else? I find it hard to find float rods in AU I did get one years ago from Terry Shepard his own brand but like all of us he has got old and retired and no longer has them.
I use a 9' Daiwa Estuary rod over 30 years old I broke the tip off accidentally and repaired it by replacing t with a quivertip.
this is now a great waggler and all rounder rod. I have caught more fish on this rod than any other rod I have owned.

Brings back memories, I can remember watching a mud eye wagler waiting for that bob or a lift bite, when ledgering waiting for the tat tap of the quiver tip or that back bite, I was that keen I even used a sight board. I purchased most of my coarse gear from Terry and sold most of it back to him when my health issues started getting worse. Part of my gear included 2 Abu float rods, a modified Daiwa spin rod. 2 Abu ledger rods, a modified Daiwa spin rod with screw in quiver tips, and to much other coarse gear to list. I loved coarse fishing, It knocked me on my bum when I had to give it up. Things are slowly settling down again so I have just purchased a rod pod a couple of bite alarms a couple of feeders open and block end and picked up a couple of mud eye waglers today. I'll setup everything before leaving home, when I get to the local lake I just have to burley up bait up sit down and enjoy myself . I have been known to nod off while fishing these days The alarms will wake me up if I'm lucky enough to hook a fish.

I got out yesterday, again, early, got bored of watching Real Madrid vs Chelsea game, so I was lucky, hubby woke up too,for second half, so he helped me get up and get out...after moving to my third fishing post on Cockrow Creek, I finally got a bite,so I stayed there, I got her, another nice 29 cm Blackfish ( Luderick) , I couldn't take a photo,as my left hand got useless after second hour and my son didn't came to check up on me, he called me instead...usually he brings our dog for quick walk and we go back home together...

Green is Jarvis Walker 5'7" Little Jim fishing rod , I use our old Shimano FX 300 reel on it , that perfect for bream

Black/Blue is 1.70 m Jarvis Walker Ultra Power rod , I use my new Shimano FX 4000 on it, as my old Jarvis Walker reel broke ( I will try to fix it , needs gear replaced)

FX 300 is bit heavier reel, so I use green rod occasionally...Tip eyelet broke last week, will attach it back on today ( I hope, unless our garden requires some TLC,son said he can get into it today)

I really love the feeling of how black one sits in my hand, that is my main one, it is light, reel is light too, perfect for me, it is great for mullets, blackfish and breams...
still not sure what was the massive about 1m long black /dark grey fish that I lost ( I couldn't pull it out by myself, it would pull me and mobility scooter into the water if I tried to move closer and I cut the line...it was very strong, I was digging into the ground with my good right foot and that didn't help) few weeks ago that lives on Cockrow Creek, but I am asking few older people if they would know, few suggested it could be catfish, I see air bubbles often on the same spot .. I am unable to use bigger (longer) rods, as they are heavy for me and it would get snagged in the trees and bushes around the creek, I am unable to access every spot I want, I fish from my mobility scooter about 1.5-2.5 m from the bank, I am unable to walk and my left side is affected by CRPS...we have 7 of 9' rods , hubby uses them for beach or lake fishing and he uses one on the creek, he doesn't get snagged because he can access any area he wants...

On the positive side, at least you were out enjoying sunshine ...That is the main reason I go fishing, If I catch something ok, if I don't ok, enjoying it on the fresh air and sunshine is the main part of it, ducks, ducklings, cormorant, wedgetail eagle, kangaroo, water dragon are good company, I only wish my dog would not go crazy after floats and would just lie and snore as usual next to me while I fish, but ,it is ok, we can not have everything...he would not go after ducks,we walk him often there and let him swim,he is ok with them being around.

Hubby promised he will paint my wagglers for me, not sure when is that going to happen as he has new snooker tournament going on now, but on positive note he bought polyurethane and brushes few days ago, daughter bought me black and red paint, we have white paint for base...
Our friend told us he never saw a woman catching as many fish as I do, and he said he can catch big salmons further south down the coast but can not catch as many mullets as I did
