I was telling Jason in the tackle shop I would be in trouble for spending so much. He gave me an interesting perspective. If I ash My wife if I can spend $200 on fishing gear. Il get into trouble.! If I buy $200 in fishing gear and then tell her Ill get into trouble, But Ill have $200 in fishing gear !!!!!!

I have a different strategy Howard and it goes like this.
I choose a $200 reel that I need/want, phone the bride and tell her that the tackle shop are selling Shimano Stellas for $950 and it's a deal too good to miss. After she has had a dummy spit, I say 'you're absolutely right, too much money to spend on a fishing reel, I will get a $200 model instead.' She immediately thinks I'm a good bloke for not wasting money.
It doesn't work every week though.
