I use one of those Hills pressurised garden sprayers (5 litre) for cleaning the salt and muck off and at times it has doubled as a 'water miser' shower option when we are free camped and need to conserve our water supply.

By screwing the wand nozzle to get a mist spray, it cleans reels without forcing any water in to the internals.

We can still wash gear and boats (at home only) provided they are on soft ground, not concrete or pavers. Nothing short of bloody difficult to get my old boat onto the (what's left of) grass. I lean rods against a shrub and can legally use the hand held hose. For gardens, we have one hour a day with no sprinklers etc permitted.
